🇺🇸 7 lessons I learnt in Texas
🤖 Mega-Prompt of the Week: Viral Video Generator w/ H-R-R Framework
Let’s go… 👇
I just got back from a Mastermind event in Texas.
I was once again reminded why getting in a room full of people who are way ahead of you is such a good idea.
It’s led by Ryan Deiss - a real marketing OG - who I have been learning from for 7+ years now.
Ryan & I enjoying the Happy Hour
I learnt an absolute ton - and also had some time to reflect whilst walking around the beautiful city.
So today I wanted to share 7 of the biggest lessons I learnt in Texas…
Success & failure are both temporary conditions.
Something to remember when things are going well or bad.
Most businesses hover around the zone of mediocrity because of this chart:
When things are going well, they take the foot off our gas.
They stop doing the things that got them the good results…
…and so business starts to dip.
They reach the ‘oh f*ck’ point…
…and then start rapidly doing things that worked before again.
The Slight Edge is gained by understanding what those important things are - and to keep doing them no matter what.We all have limiting beliefs that we cannot see and do not think are limiting us.
I found this hard to get my head around at first……but we all have rules or beliefs about the world we experience.
Some are true: Fire is hot. Water is wet.
Some are not true: I’m the only one who can write emails this way…
The limiting beliefs are secretly holding us back - because we are not aware of them, we just believe them to be undeniable truths of our reality.
So it’s our duty to try and discover them. The best way, in my opinion, is to get in a room with people who are way ahead of you.
Learn from them & get challenged by them.
After all, the breakthroughs we’re looking for might be on the other side.Later = Never.
If it’s important, do it now or give it a deadline.Forcing Functions are the ultimate productivity hack.
You get so much done when there is a forcing function.
I use meetings, holidays, even gym sessions strategically to self-impose deadlines.
When something HAS to be done… we tap into our extreme levels of resourcefulness.Trust your gut, but not exclusively. Use cold hard data as well where possible.
We learnt this during our Inter Assessment Day. We had 26 finalists come to our HQ.
We had an objective scoring system for each of the candidates.
So when it came to decide who got the role - we could objectively measure who scored the highest on the attributes that were most important to our goal…
…and then use our gut feels about their character & more intangible traits.
It was a much smarter way of making a decision (I think). The key to go viral is to master one type of content.
Most viral creators blew up because they do 1 style of video really well.
They are also videos that lend themself to a high watch time - the most important metric to focus on for virality.Everyone sees the world differently.
Seek different perspectives to gain a better understanding of the world.
That’s all for this week - I hope you found it useful.
Take it easy,
Elliott ✌🏼
P.S. Are we connected on Linked? I post something everyday… find me here.
P.P.S. I open up 1 slot in my diary each week to chat to a Hyper Growth Blueprint subscriber about their business.
Mega-Prompt of the Week 🤖
I created this prompt to improve the effectiveness of our video ads.
Step 1. It asks you about your business for context
Step 2. It generates 10 video ideas
Step 3. You choose one, and it writes a script optimised for high watch time using the Hook, Retain, Reward framework
Enjoy 💪
