This week's Hyper Growth Blueprint is coming to you from the USA.
I landed this past Friday, spending some family time for a few weeks.
Have you ever witnessed a Halloween in the USA? It's huge.
Seriously… the costumes? Next level.
But behind the masks and candies…
…it's a money-making dream where theme parks go all out with Halloween specials.
We’ve hit two so far - Disney World and Universal Studios.
Although they might seem the same, they're completely different.
It reminded me of the importance of knowing your market.
Case in point - Disney vs. Universal.
Two very separate experiences stemming from understanding their ideal customers.
On one hand you have Disney - the home of inclusive family ‘magic’ designed for families with young children.
Their Halloween special is literally called the ‘not-so-scary’ Halloween party…
…and it's sold out every single night because of this.
Then you have Universal - the slightly more intense & mature version.
This park is designed more with adults in mind.
As a result, their Halloween event - Halloween Horror Nights - turns the whole park into a live & interactive ‘Scare Zone’ full of blood and guts and people with chainsaws chasing after you.
It’s very intense, very fun, and also sold out every single night.
Two different experiences, created for two different types of customer.
This got me thinking about our business.
So much so, I decided to sit down and reassess our Ideal Customer Profiles (ICPs)…
My process was:
Identify our top 20% of clients (based on results, LTV, and the relationships we have)
Create a table and add them in.
Start listing out different variables for each (industry, budget, team size, target customers, maturity, turnover, LTV etc.)
Based on this new table of date - pull out the reoccuring traits and create a single new ‘north star’ ICP
It’s super simple, but the refound clarity I gained at the end was brilliant.
