I spent this weekend inside glued to my laptop.

Working on quite possible the most exciting & impactful thing Iā€™ve ever done.

Iā€™ll be revealing it in a week or soā€¦

But first I want to talk about why I think you should GIVE first and PROFIT second.

At first glance, it might seem counterintuitive.

After all, profit is why weā€™re here.

However, to maximise profitā€¦ I think we must first prioritise value.

I first encountered this concept years ago.

Gary Vee popularised it in his book, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook.

The idea is to offer free valuable contentā€”jabs.

These build your reputation.

Eventually, when you present a call to actionā€”a right hookā€”people are much more likely to respond.

It was the rationale behind this very newsletter.

In todayā€™s age, I think the Value First, Profit Second law is crucial.

This is because consumer trust is declining.

Check out this consumer trust survey from 2012 to 2023.

After the 2008 recession, trust and the economy surged.

From 2012 to 2017, social media growth boosted consumer trust.

But since 2017, trust has steadily declined.

Why? 

TOO many people are making TOO many claims and NOT delivering on them.

Ravi Abuvala has a nice sayingā€¦ that weā€™re in a ā€œTrust Recessionā€.

In these conditionsā€¦ bold claims alone arenā€™t enough.

We must provide more evidence and proof.

Iā€™m a big believer that the best way to prove to someone that you can help themā€¦

ā€¦is to actually help them.

We do this by creating and sharing incredibly high-value lead magnets that provide a complete solution to a narrow problem.

I have seen the power of this first hand in my businessā€¦

Let me share a story about the man who was scared to giveā€¦

ā€¦vs the man who gave it all away.

The man who was scared to give was one of my first clients.

He sold a program teaching people how to sell more.

He was scared to give away his ā€œsecretsā€.

ā€œIf I give too much awayā€¦ then they wonā€™t want to buy the programmeā€

So he held his secrets back.

And tried to convince people he had the answersā€¦

ā€¦without ever giving any of the answers away.

The result?

A couple of people tried it.

But the business flatlined at Ā£10k/month.

The we had the man who gave it all awayā€¦

He embraced the value-first approach.

He gave away many of his secretsā€¦

ā€¦in the form of free long form masterclasses & webinars.

At one point running 10 different free masterclasses a month on 10 different topics that were most sought after by his prospects.

The result?

A Ā£1,000,000/month empire.

Good things happen when you lead with value.

After all, itā€™s one of the laws of the universeā€¦šŸ‘‡
