I buy about 50 books a year.

I only read about 6 of them properly.

This has quickly turned into one of my favourites.

If youā€™re someone whos to-do list & responsibilities seem neverending & often overwhelmingā€¦

ā€¦then Iā€™d highly recommend giving this read.

You can be successful with less discipline than you think.

Success is about doing the right thing, not about doing everything right.

Itā€™s funny how in life sometimes you have to hear a message over & over again before it sinks in.

This is something that has taken me a loooong time to internalise.

Trust meā€¦ Iā€™ve been great at working long hours on all sorts of stuff that needs doingā€¦

ā€¦but now every single morning I prioritise the ā€˜rightā€™ stuff.

I do this by dividing my calendar into 4 categories.

1) Building - time spent on the right stuff that builds the business.

2) Maintenance - time spent working in the business, looking after clients etc.

3) Gym - My daily movement break which resets & re-energises me for the afternoon.

4) Meetings - all bunched together between 3-6pm every day

Nowā€¦ itā€™s all well & good having time blocked out to spend on the right stuffā€¦

ā€¦but you also need to know what exactly the right stuff is.

So when it comes to growing your business & acquiring more customersā€¦

ā€¦here are my thoughts on 5 things you should be clear on before you do.

You canā€™t steer the ship if you donā€™t know where itā€™s going. āš“ļø

Iā€™ve learnt the hard way that making decisions in business is extremely difficult when youā€™re not sure what the plan is.

And on the flipside how easy it is when you have total clarity.

This is especially important when it comes to ads.

Questions like:

How many leads do I need?

How much should I spend to acquire a customer?

How much should I spend on ads this month?

ā€¦become incredibly simple when you have a clear plan.

šŸ”® #2 Understanding of your 3 Holy Numbers

These are the 3 most important numbers when it comes to advertising.

The 3 Holy Numbers šŸ‘¼šŸæ

Having an accurate view on these figures weekly will give you everything you need to drive your business forward.

Hereā€™s how we calculate themā€¦ šŸ‘‡

Average Order Value (AOV) = Total Revenue / Number of Orders

Lifetime Value (LTV) = (Average Order Value x Average Order Frequency) x Average Customer Lifespan

Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) = Total Ad Spend / Number of Sales

šŸ”® #3 A Primary ICP

If you try to appeal to everyone, you will appeal to no one.

ā€œBut my business can serve all sorts of peopleā€¦. old, young, techies, fashionistas, foodiesā€¦ā€

Greatā€¦ pick the biggest one that your product/service helps the most.

The majority of ineffective advertising is the result of generic messaging to a broad audience.

Choose your most impactful segment & tailor your stuff to them first.

Then rinse & repeat with the other segments.

šŸ”® #4 A Foundational Understanding of Marketing 101

If youā€™re going to get outside help with getting more leads or customersā€¦

ā€¦you need to know enough to be dangerous.

Sadly, there are a lot of not-so-great businesses out thereā€¦

ā€¦and 84% of our clients have come to us off the back of a bad experience with another agency.

Having a topline understanding of marketing will mean 2 things:

a) They canā€™t pull the wool over your eyes.

b) Youā€™ll be able to help drive the relationship & the results.

šŸ”® #5 A Proper CRM System 

If youā€™re going to invest a lot in getting new leads & customers into your systemā€¦

...you also then want to have a highly-effective backend system that helps convert those leads into sales & customers into repeat customers.

There are zillions of systems out thereā€¦ but we are going ā€˜all-inā€™ on GenieAI.
