🥊 Meta vs Google Ads in 2025… which to use
🛞 How to build a Demand Flywheel
🤖 Mega-Prompt of the Week
Let’s go… 👇
I just returned from a short trip to Paris.
I learnt two things:
Social Media is getting more powerful as a Search Engine
On all the trips I go on now, I search primarily on Instagram to find & see the places I want to visit.
Therefore, making sure your social profiles are optimised so it’s easy for people to find you is key if you want to start tapping into this free traffic source.
People will go out there way for novelty & memorable experiences
One of my favourite indulgences is a croissant.
During my Instagram searching for this trip…
…I was surprised when an Instagram Reel came up advertising an ‘Escargot Croissant’ 🐌
I wouldn’t say I’m a big snail fan… but there was no way I wasn’t going to try this.
So we ventured 30 mins into an obscure part of Paris at 9am on Thursday morning.
Lo and behold there was a massive queue….. and they sold out by 10.30am.
Now onto the core topic of this week…👇
I get asked a lot…
“Should I focus on Meta Ads or Google Ads?”
My answer is…
Both.
Here’s why…👇
One of our clients had a pretty big business doing ~£30m+ per year.
We ran Meta Ads & Google Ads for them and their stats looked like this…
As you can see, Google MASSIVELY outperformed Meta.
So one day, the client decided they wanted to turn off Meta and focus all the spend on Google.
Which based purely on the data above, could be considered a very logical decision.
What happened next?
Initially… not a lot.
But then after a month or two… Google started to dip.
It went from a 10.1 ROAS to 9.
Then from 9 to 7.5.
Then from 7.5 to 4.
You get the picture…
Despite any and all optimisations… it struggled to get back anywhere near the 10.1 ROAS it used to have.
By turning Meta off, they broke the Demand Flywheel.
To sustainably run profitable marketing, you need to invest in both:
Demand Generation (where you can target people who are NOT actively searching for your stuff - like Meta Ads)
Demand Capture (where people ARE actively searching for your stuff - like Google Ads)
Because one fuels the other.
If you’re interested in installing this virtuous flywheel into your business, you might want to read this letter I wrote.

P.S. Whenever you’re ready, there are two ways I can help:
Watch this free YouTube video I created about why a lot of businesses don’t have “bad leads”… but cr*p follow up (and how to fix it).
Read this letter I wrote that explains how you can have a Reliable System, Working 24/7, that Attracts the Right Leads, Engages With Them, and Converts Them Into Your Ideal Customers…

It’s just an ugly old Google Doc. You can read it here.
