Steal these 6 ‘Quick & Dirty’ Ad Creatives
A gift from me to you.
Read time: 4-mins…
Welcome back 🫡
Last week I did a poll for this weeks topic, and the people have spoken…
The results of last weeks topic poll… ☝️
So today we’re covering the 6 types of ‘Quick & Dirty’ Ad Creatives working RIDICULOUSLY well for us right now on Facebook & Instagram Ads…
‘Quick & Dirty’ meaning anyone can create them for free in less than 2-minutes.
One of the biggest areas I see businesses struggle with is their ad creative.
Having now spent £15,675,656 on ads for global giants (Amazon, Audible, Pokemon) and smaller businesses - I can tell you one thing for certain…
Expensive polished creative does NOT mean it will work.
Let me tell you a story of when I learnt this…
I once had a client who wanted to run a BIG campaign.
They had a budget of £1.5 million for a 2 week Facebook Ad campaign.
They spent £100k on getting some cinematic video ads produced that were the real deal. All sorts of CGI and crazy stuff…
I advised them from the start that I did not think that would work well… and that to be safe, we should test some simple creative alongside it.
They agreed, and I took a bunch of screenshots of the app to use.
We set the campaigns live & the test began…
Low and behold (and much to the client’s dismay…😬) the screenshots I took BEAT the £100k CGI Videos with a 57% cheaper CPL!!
It wasn’t even close.
Don’t get me wrong - investing in proper video is an incredibly good asset for any business.
But when it comes to generating RESULTS… ‘Quick & Dirty’ images can often be a lot better.
So with that in mind, here’s 6 types of ‘Quick & Dirty’ Ad Creatives working RIDICULOUSLY well for us right now on Facebook & Instagram Ads…
#1 The Scribble
We use a tool called Excalidraw to create these (I highly recommend it).
Why it works
Hand-drawn nature is very eye-catching.
It sparks intrigue & curiosity, which stops people scrolling.
#2 The Screenshot
Screenshots of calendars, your software or app, or even the landing pages your sending people too work ludicrously well.
Why it works
People by nature are inquisitive (a.k.a nosey).
As a result they stop the scroll to try & see what’s going on.
#3 The iPhone Note
These have been blowing up recently… and for good reason!
Why it works
Everyone recognises the style of Apple notes.
It looks like someone you know has posted something, which stops the scroll & gets them reading.
#4 The Red Line
Take your nicely shot images & scribble some red lines on them…
Why it works
This is a pattern interrupt which stops people scrolling.
The arrows direct peoples attention & they try & decipher why it’s there & what it is indicating.
#5 The Hand-drawn
Notes on paper, your iPad (or even Remarkable…) have been working for us for a long time now…
Why it works
Are you seeing the trend yet?
Hand-drawn stuff is instinctively eye-catching… paired with compelling ad copy it’s a prolific combination.
#6 The JTP (Just Take Pictures)
My personal favourite… get your phone camera out and Just. Take. Pictures.
Why it works
FACT: Most people glaze over stock imagery.
Pictures that are naturally taken emulate those of our family & friends (a.k.a. the things we normally like to look on when we’re on Facebook or Instagram).
So there you have it!
Now you can feel liberated knowing you can create extremely high-converting ads in next to no time at all and for basically zero cost.
Have fun creating… 👍
Take it easy,
Elliott ✌🏼
