For the past two days we’ve been at the Vox in Birmingham hosting an event called ‘Your Business Health Check’.

(Thanks to everyone that came in-person/tuned in on the livestream 😁)

We dove deep into the 12 ‘Vital Signs’ that can tell you the health of any business.

One of the biggest lessons it reinforced for me was

Running a successful growing business is not about doing ‘advanced’ stuff.

It’s about doing the ‘basic’ stuff really well.

  • Knowing your numbers

  • Having a proper plan for the year

  • Having clarity on your ICP

  • Having a well-positioned offer

  • Having solid landing pages

  • Having automated follow-up

  • Having a clearly mapped customer journey

  • Having a great onboarding

  • Having a great recruitment process

  • Having the right team members

  • Having a review collection system

None of these individually are complex.

But it’s hard to grow rhythmically without the majority of them in place.

I jumped on a call yesterday with an old friend and customer.

He’s in insurance and has just been onboarded to GenieAI.

His pipelines are set up. His leads are coming in.

They all received several carefully crafted Email & SMS follow ups.

The system is working well. He’s getting a bunch of customers.

His question to me was:

What MORE could I be doing to convert even more of these leads?

This is what I said… 👇

  1. Switch Email & Phone Verification On

You can’t convert invalid details.

We press this button on all our forms and it requires the lead to validate their email and phone before it lets them submit.

This significantly boosts lead quality…

Which increases how many respond…

Which increases how many convert.

It also takes 30 seconds to action. Bosh.

  1. Add Scarcity & Urgency to your Follow Up

Scarcity = capacity or resource based limit

E.g. “We only have 12 slots left in the calendar this month”

Urgency = time based limit

E.g. “This Offer Expires on 28th January”

Both extremely powerful.

Both increase the probability of someone taking action IF done correctly.

The key is to NEVER lie (people aren’t dumb).

And you also need to justify and explain the reason WHY this element of scarcity exists if you want it to really land with the prospect.

  1. Resurrect Non-Responsive Leads

If a lead goes through your main follow up and they haven’t engaged or responded.

They are not dead…. yet.

We send out specific Resurrection Sequences that are a last ditch effort to get them engaged.

The key with these is that they are a big pattern interrupt.

Whether it’s unexpected humour or really basic formatting, the idea is to serve up something that ‘jolts’ the prospect back to life before we lose them forever.

Example of three of our best resurrection campaigns that are pre-built in GenieAI.

  1. Send them Voice Notes and/or Personalised Videos on WhatsApp

The personal touch works amazingly well.

Some of my private clients now exclusively just use WhatsApp for all their follow up because it’s so effective.

  1. Call them within 10 minutes of them becoming a lead

The most simple AND most rarely executed.

But Harvard Business School did a study that showed you convert 400% more leads if you call them within 10 minutes.

What would your business look like with 4x the amount of sales?
